Dig in at Sunday Game Night

Game Friends,

My ma always told me Game Night is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. Personally I think that’s a flawed metaphor because most boxes of chocolates have a card telling you what’s in the different chocolates. But since I’m adding several new people to the email list, let me enumerate the flavors of game night:

  • A zesty amuse-bouche delivered straight to your inbox on Friday to get you salivating for games.
  • A veritable salad bar of transportation choices. Will you take one of the convenient bus routes that stop near our apartment? Drive without fear of parking troubles, since we live in the only part of Capitol Hill with plentiful street parking? Bike? Walk?
  • As guests arrive, we tickle the palate with a nice light game, perhaps a Dixit or a Hanabi or a Coup.
  • The literal food portion includes drinks and snacks contributed by the attendees (that’s you) and a more substantial offering prepared by the host (that’s me and/or Kaitlin)
  • At this point our food stomachs are swelling but our game stomachs are limp, so we’ll dig into the main course: something savory and satisfying.
  • Finally, for dessert we often wind down with more of a party game as everyone’s bedtime approaches.

This feast of the senses can be yours for the price of bringing a snack/drink/excuse, most Sundays at 5pm (and this Sunday in particular). You’re also welcome to show up and not play any games at all if you just want to hang out. If you have a friend, roommate, lover, and/or enemy who likes games too, bring them with you. Just let me know if you’re coming so I know roughly how much food to make.

Nathan

Helen and I shall attend and offer to contribute hard cider and nacho construction expertise. Also sweet teambuilding Hanabi skills and a new answer to the question: “Name One Fish”.
